Today was my first day back in San Francisco after camping in the Redwood Forest and visiting the wine country of Napa Valley.

结束了红杉森林露营和纳帕谷葡萄酒产区之旅后，今天是我回到旧金山的第一天。

I have to admit that it definitely feels good to be back in the city again.

我不得不承认，再次回到这座城市的感觉真的太好了。

And what a city—a city that was able to rebuild itself after the earthquake that occurred in 1906.

这真是一座了不起的城市——一座在1906年地震后能够完成自我重建的城市。

There are so many beautiful old buildings—many sitting on top of big hills, offering great views of the city, the ocean, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

这里有许多漂亮的老式建筑，大多坐落于山顶，能够将城市、大海以及金门大桥的美景尽收眼底。

My hotel is near downtown, in the Mission District, one of the oldest parts of the city.

我入住的酒店靠近市中心，位于教会区，是这座城市最古老的区域之一。

Many of the people living here are from Mexico or Central America.

居住在这里的大多数人都来自墨西哥或中美洲。

This district used to be a poor area of town, but is now a centre for art, music, and food.

这片区域曾经是城市的贫民区，如今已然成为艺术、音乐和美食中心。

In fact, an art movement called the "Mission School" started here.

事实上，一场名为“教会派”的艺术运动就起源于此。

It's influenced by graffiti art and comic art.

它受到了涂鸦艺术和漫画艺术的影响。

I walked around looking at the street art for a few hours.

我四处闲逛，欣赏了几个小时的街头艺术。

It was quite modern and lively.

这些艺术作品十分新潮，充满活力。

Afterwards, I ate some delicious Mexican-Chinese noodles from a food truck.

之后，我在移动餐车上吃了美味的墨式中式面条。

A real mix of cultures here!

In the afternoon, I headed to a local museum that showed the historical changes in California.

下午，我前往当地一家博物馆，这里展示着加利福尼亚州的历史变迁。

I learnt that America got California from Mexico in 1848.

我了解到，美国在1848年从墨西哥手中获得了加利福尼亚这片土地。

In the same year, gold was discovered near San Francisco, which started a gold rush.

同年，旧金山附近发现了黄金，由此掀起了淘金热。

Over 300,000 people came from all over the world to seek their fortune, and San Francisco quickly became a big city.

超过30万人从世界各地赶来追寻财富，旧金山也迅速发展为一座大城市。

Many Chinese arrived during this period.

这一时期，大量中国人来到这里。

To earn a living, some opened up shops and restaurants in Chinatown.

为了谋生，一部分人在唐人街开设商铺和餐馆。

Many others found jobs on farms, joined the gold rush, or went to build the railway that joined California to the eastern region of the country.

还有许多人在农场务工、参与淘金，或是投身修建连接加州与美国东部的铁路。

The museum did a really good job of showing how America was built by immigrants from different countries and cultures.

这座博物馆生动地展现了美国是如何由来自不同国家、不同文化的移民建设而成的。

When these immigrants left their countries, they carried a bit of home in their hearts, and built a new home here.

这些移民离开故土时，心中怀揣着故乡的念想，在这里建造了新的家园。

This evening, I went to Chinatown.

今晚，我去了唐人街。

There were so many good cafés and restaurants to choose from.

这里有各式各样精致的咖啡馆和餐馆可供选择。

I selected a Cantonese restaurant that served its food on beautiful china plates.

我选了一家粤菜馆，菜品都盛放在精致的瓷盘里。

What great food!

味道简直太棒了！

That's enough for today.

今天的旅程到此结束。

Tomorrow evening, I'm going to a jazz bar in the Richmond District.

明天晚上，我打算去里士满区的一家爵士酒吧。

Can't wait!
